Chocolate Chip Caramel Cookies

Delicious chewy and sweet chocolate chip cookies, with the addition of sweet and chewy caramel bits mixed throughout the dough. Chocolate chips and caramel bits work perfectly together to create these delicious cookies. It is so easy to prepare the cookie dough for these cookies, it is just like making classic chocolate chip cookies, with the addition of caramel bits added. You can make these cookies for just about any occasion, such as Valentine’s day, or just because you want to bake some delicious chewy cookies.

The dough for these cookies is made by creaming softened butter with both granulated sugar and brown sugar until fluffy. Egg and vanilla extract is beat into the mixture until smooth. A mixture of flour, salt, and baking soda is added in three separate parts, until a thick dough forms. Fold chocolate chips and caramel bits into the dough, and refrigerate for at least one hour. Chilling the dough before baking keeps the dough from spreading out too much in the oven. Roll the dough into balls and bake until lightly browned.

Ingredients

  

• 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
• 1/2 cup butter, softened
• 1/2 cup granulated sugar
• 1/4 cup brown sugar
• 1 large egg
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 1/2 cup chocolate chips
• 1/2 cup caramel bits

Instructions

 

• In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, salt, and baking soda. In a large bowl, with a mixer, beat softened butter with both sugars until fluffy. Add in egg and vanilla extract, beat until smooth.
• Add the flour mixture in three additions, beating well after each until fully combined. Fold in chocolate chips and caramel bits. Cover and refrigerate for at least one hour.
• Preheat oven to 350 F. Roll cookie dough into balls, place 2-inches apart onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake for 10-12 minutes.
