Soft and chewy cookies that is a combination of chocolate chip cherry cookies and a classic snickerdoodle cookie. The flavor of the chocolate chips and the flavor of the dried cherries go perfectly together. They are rolled in a mixture of granulated sugar and cinnamon, just like a classic snickerdoodle cookie. The cookie dough is prepared similar to a classic chocolate chip cookie dough, with the dried cherries added to the cookie dough. The cookies are also rolled into a mixture of granulated sugar and ground cinnamon, to give these cookies the classic flavor of a snickerdoodle cookie. They are baked until the center is cooked fully. Let the cookies cool on a cooling rack completely before serving.

Cherry Chocolate Chip Snickerdoodle Cookies

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup dried cherries
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Method
 

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 F. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, salt, baking soda, and cream of tartar. In a large bowl, combine butter with sugar until fluffy.
  2. Add in egg and vanilla extract, and mix until smooth. Add in the flour mixture until it is fully combined. Fold in the dried cherries and chocolate chips. In a shallow dish, combine granulated sugar and ground cinnamon.
  3. Roll the cookie dough into balls, and roll them into the mixture of cinnamon and sugar. Place the cookies onto a large ungreased baking sheet at least 2-inches apart. Bake for 10-12 minutes.
