I love to eat french fries with any sandwich or burger, but I wanted to find a healthier alternative to classic russet potato fries. So I made some sweet potato french fries to use instead, and they were just as if not even more delicious. And these fries are baked, meaning that they will use less oil than traditional french fries. But they are still crispy and crunchy even baked. They taste even better when dipped in ketchup. Serve alongside burgers or sandwiches for a crunchy fry you can feel good about eating.

Sweet potatoes offer more health benefits than russet potatoes. Sweet potatoes contain higher amounts of vitamins A and C, while containing less calories and carbs than russet potatoes. Making sweet potatoes the perfect alternative to classic french fries. The sweet potatoes are cut into large long fries and placed into a large plastic bag. Drizzle olive oil, salt, pepper, paprika and garlic powder into the bag and shake it to evenly coat the sweet potato fries. Spread the sweet potatoes out onto a large baking sheet in a single layer and bake until they are crispy.

Baked Sweet Potato Fries

Ingredients
  

  • 2 large sweet potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 425 F. Cut sweet potato fries into fries and place into a large plastic bag.
  • Add olive oil, salt, pepper, paprika and garlic powder into the bag and shake to coat the potatoes.
  • Spread the potatoes out onto a large baking sheet in a single layer and bake for 30-35 minutes.
