Valentine’s Day Frosted Sugar Cookies

Soft and chewy sugar cookies topped with a creamy and delicious buttercream frosting and decorated with Valentine’s day themed sprinkles. Everyone will love these easy chewy cookies with a delicious sweet buttercream frosting on top. They make the perfect treat to bake this Valentine’s day.

The cookies are made like a classic sugar cookie dough. Roll the cookies into balls and place onto a large ungreased baking sheet at least 2-inches apart. Bake until the cookies are fully cooked through. Remove from the oven and let cool completely before frosting. Mix all of the frosting ingredients together until smooth. Frost each cookie and decorate with sprinkles.

Valentine's Day Frosted Sugar Cookies

Ingredients
  

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 3-4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • red food coloring
  • Valentine's day sprinkles

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350 F. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, salt, and baking soda. In a large bowl, mix together butter and sugar until fluffy. Add in egg and vanilla extract and mix until smooth.
  • Add in the flour mixture and mix until it is fully combined. Roll the cookie dough into balls and place onto a large ungreased baking sheet at least 2-inches apart. Bake for 10-12 minutes. Let cool completely.
  • In a large bowl, mix butter with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until combined. Add in the food coloring. Frost each cooled cookie and decorate with sprinkles.
