Green Velvet Cookies

Red velvet cookies are a classic to have around the holidays, or Valentine’s day. But instead of using red food coloring, for these cookies green food coloring is used. These easy delicious cookies are perfect to bake for St. Patrick’s day or for Christmas. They make a fun alternative to red velvet cookies.

The cookie dough is made like a classic red velvet cookie dough, with cocoa powder added to the dough. But instead of using red food coloring, green food coloring is used to make the cookie dough green. Use a cookie scoop to place the cookie dough onto a large ungreased baking sheet. Bake until the cookies are fully cooked through.

Green Velvet Cookies

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • green food coloring

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350 F. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking soda. In a large bowl, combine butter with sugar until fluffy. Add in egg and vanilla extract, and mix until smooth.
  • Add in the flour mixture, and mix until it is fully combined. Add in the green food coloring and mix until it is fully green.
  • Use a cookie scoop to place cookies onto a large ungreased baking sheet at least 2-inches apart. Bake for 10-12 minutes.
