Red Velvet Reindeer Cookies

Quick and easy red velvet cookies, decorated into reindeer for Christmas. This is such a fun Christmas cookie to make around the holidays. Everyone will have fun decorating the cookies into reindeer. Pretzels, chocolate chips, and red M&Ms are used to make these cookies look like reindeer. It takes just a few minutes to decorate them, but they make a fun treat for Christmas.

The dough for these cookies is made with a classic red velvet cookie dough. They are baked as usual, then after they have baked, decorate them with the pretzels for the antlers, chocolate chips for the eyes, and the red M&M candy for the nose. Let the cookies cool completely on wire racks before serving.

Red Velvet Reindeer Cookies

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • red food coloring
  • pretzels
  • chocolate chips
  • red M&Ms

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350 F. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking soda.
  • In a large bowl, combine butter with granulated sugar and brown sugar until fluffy. Add in egg and vanilla extract, mix until smooth. Add in the flour mixture, and mix until it is fully combined.
  • Add in red food coloring, and mix until it is fully red. Use a cookie scoop to place cookies onto a large ungreased baking sheet at least 2-inches apart. Bake for 10-12 minutes.
  • Decorate the cookies with the pretzels, chocolate chips, and m&ms.
