Easy and crispy mac and cheese bites made without any oil. These mac and cheese bites use up leftover mac and cheese and turn them into a delicious crispy and cheesy appetizer. You can make these appetizers for any occasion, such as a game day. Serve warm with ranch dressing or marinara sauce.
Any leftover mac and cheese will work for this recipe. Use a cookie scoop to form the mac and cheese into balls and set onto plates. Place the bites into the freezer for at least 20 minutes before coating. For the coating, egg and milk are combined in a shallow dish, flour and seasonings are combined in another dish. Breadcrumbs are placed into the last shallow dish. Coat the mac and cheese balls in egg, flour, egg again, then fully coat in breadcrumbs. Place them back into the freezer for a few more minutes. Air-fry the bites in batches until the tops are lightly golden browned.
Air-Fryer Mac and Cheese Bites
Ingredients
- 2 cups leftover mac and cheese
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
Instructions
- Use a cookie scoop to place bite-sized balls of leftover mac and cheese onto a plate. Freeze for 20 minutes.
- In a shallow dish, whisk egg and milk together. In another shallow dish, combine flour and seasonings. Place breadcrumbs into another shallow dish.
- First coat mac and cheese bites in egg mixture, roll in flour mixture, back into eggs, and fully coat in breadcrumbs. Set back onto plates. Freeze for another 20 minutes.
- Preheat air-fryer to 400 F. Air-fry mac and cheese bites in batches for 8-10 minutes.
